Asentria announces the release of its new Data-Link™ DL150 Pollable Remote Access Unit, industry's first call accounting data buffer with IP Record Collection (IPRC). The new Data-Link DL150 provides a unique solution for data buffering via direct connection to a PBX network port, rather than collecting CDR data in the traditional manner from a PBX's RS-232 port. Data-Link DL150 is the next step in the Asentria evolution of data buffers, to meet customer needs as enterprise voice and data networks converge.
The DL150 is programmed to communicate in the proprietary protocols of specific IP-based PBX models so it can query the PBX for CDR data over an IP connection. IPRC has particular benefits for service providers who need to manage both RS-232 and IP-port PBXs. Service bureaus can poll new IP PBXs without software development. The DL150 maintains its ability to collect CDR via RS-232 port as well, so service providers can implement a single device to manage every PBX. And call accounting software vendors can continue to offer their software for new IP-based switches because the software will obtain CDR from the Data-Link, just as before.
The Data-Link DL150 offers two more new features for out-of-band management:
1. dialup routing of IP packets (users can dial into the DL150 to access network
devices in the telecom closet -- a direct RS-232 connection is not required. Data-Link
offers security measures such as passwords and hardware deactivation for this feature).
2. capture-and-forward of SNMP traps (DL150 converts SNMP traps into a text message
and forwards it over a modem to out-of-band management systems).
The DL150 provides up to 64MB of storage memory for a typical capacity of 2,000,000 call records. Data can be polled using industry-standard command sets via modem or Ethernet, as well as an easy-to-use FTP Push feature. With PPP dial-out, service providers can retrieve data from distant PBXs via the Internet at local phone rates. The DL150 also offers an optional internal 33.6 modem that enables a network manager to dial-in to collect CDR even if the network goes down.
DL150 provides password-protected access to connected serial devices, facilitating in-band or out-of-band access and remote maintenance of PBX systems. Out-of-band access is particularly useful for call accounting service bureaus, which maintain access to their system behind their customer's firewall.
DL150 supports data alarms for switch management and toll fraud applications, as well as other alarms such as memory full or interruption of incoming data so users know if the PBX is not generating CDR. Alarms may report back to pagers, email, SNMP traps to SNMP software or the new Asentria AlarmManager software, which is provided free to Asentria customers.
All Asentria data buffers are covered by the company's unmatched technical support services and a one-year warranty.
The Company
Asentria develops remote site monitoring and telemanagement solutions that enable providers of critical communications infrastructure to more efficiently and reliably run their networks.
