Ideal Use

The SiteBoss 450 is well suited for the following application:

1) Remote Monitoring of “passive”, or nonservice providing equipment at cellular Base Transceiver Stations (BTS)- Passive equipment controls the environment, physical security, and power conditions at a remote site. Typical environmental conditions that are monitored include temperature, water, humidity, smoke, airflow, and monitoring the operation of an HVAC system. Security variables that are monitored include security of doors, motion detectors, tower lighting systems, and monitoring the theft of items like diesel fuel. Power conditions that are monitored include items related to DC or AC power at the remote site, backup diesel generators (including fuel level), and wind and solar power systems.

The S450 is designed to be cost-effectively used in very large deployments in mobile operator networks worldwide. The S450 is specifically designed to integrate closely with external sensing devices for the purpose of monitoring these variables. The S450 can directly power some sensors to overcome the challenge and cost of powering sensors in a DC environment. The S450 supports internal wireless modems for reliable transfer of status data as either its primary method of communicating, or as a back-up to a more conventional Ethernet connection. The S450 has no expansion slots and therefore cannot accept Asentria Expansion cards.
