SiteBoss 570
Today, digital networks are the cornerstones for enterprise business and electronic commerce, with data, voice and video intertwined in virtually every enterprise and service provider infrastructure. For corporations, service providers and broadband ISPs, this means that a host of network equipment sites are often miles and sometimes hours away from the nearest qualified service personnel. With the number of broadband alternatives now proliferating in the market, a few service interruptions or reliability problems can cause customers to jump ship in droves. This same competition imposes cost constraints that demand cost-effective solutions to keep remote sites running smoothly with a minimum of “in-person” service personnel or “truck rolls.” All of this has to occur while maintaining tighter security controls than ever before.
The SiteBoss series of Remote Site Controllers from Asentria are designed to address each of these monitoring challenges facing today’s network architects and managers. The SiteBoss Series of remote device management products help you detect and control remote site factors such as non-networked, non-SNMP devices and environmental conditions which otherwise remain dangerously outside the scope of your network management system (NMS), while providing security sufficient to satisfy even the most stringent requirements.
The SiteBoss remote device management product line consists of a series of low-end to high-end stand-alone remote monitoring hardware devices that can be deployed at the remote sites, providing a powerful set of intelligent remote monitoring and remote device management and control features to help detect and prevent potential operational issues at your remote sites. The SiteBoss series remote device management controllers are scalable and economical, easy to setup and use, and provide a variety of options for a complete in-band and out-of-band secure remote access solution. The SiteBoss is a powerful, flexible and cost-effective choice for ISPs, WISPs, MSPs and network managers who need to monitor operational conditions and respond to potential or actual fault conditions rapidly before service interruptions occur.
The SiteBoss Series remote monitoring products are based upon a powerful hardware design which leverages the power, reliability and security of embedded Linux. SiteBoss products offer a set of base features, plus onboard expansion slots that can host a variety of I/O and interface cards to meet the exact needs of your monitoring requirements within its single 1U size, eliminating excess equipment costs and saving valuable rack space. Options include dialup, wireless and ADSL modems, contact and analog inputs, relays, and a series of Asentria ready-made environmental sensors. The SiteBoss Series products provide in-band and out-of-band remote access to equipment located within remote sites, and include powerful features such as alarm monitoring and onboard scripting control, as well as security features such as VPN, SSH and SFTP to maintain site security. The modular and versatile design of the SiteBoss Series makes it easy and cost-effective to scale your systems as your applications grow.
The SiteBoss Series brings remote site monitoring and remote device management into the 21st century by providing high bandwidth connectivity such as Ethernet, GSM, CDMA, EDGE cellular and/ or an on-board ADSL interface to provide fast, reliable, cost-effective connectivity into your remote sites. However, in today’s world connectivity is a liability without corresponding security. The SiteBoss Series secure remote access solution provides dialup security options such as modem callbacks and caller ID filtering, as well as SSH, SFTP, one-step VPN, and two-factor authentication options to provide secure point-to-point connection options. Through this connectivity the SiteBoss facilitates pass-through sessions with connected serial devices, as well as other devices on the same remote network via Remote Access and Routing. With Asentria’s SiteBoss products, service providers can offer new revenue generating services previously not possible because of security concerns or logistical difficulties.
The SiteBoss product line integrates with the Asentria's network management software, SitePath Administration Portal to provide a unified single point-of-access and management of the SiteBoss Controllers deployed throughout the network. The SitePath VPN Gateway maintains a secure VPN tunnel between your technician and the SiteBoss devices located within your remote LAN, providing bi-directional, 24/7, real-time remote site visibility. The SitePath Portal manages the access to the SiteBoss and the remote equipment without exposing any passwords or access information to midlevel staff. All routing and NAT traversal is transparently handled by SiteBoss, enabling easy and secure access and alarm transport.
The SiteBoss products include an alarm management system that can monitor alarms from legacy devices, power supplies, and other equipment that issue alarms via a serial port. By adding expansion cards for contact closures, voltage inputs, or other sensors, the SiteBoss can also directly monitor power supplies, transmitters, broadcasting equipment, and other legacy devices that utilize contact closures or voltage outputs. Many non-networked devices indicate alarm states only with contact closures. With the SiteBoss products, these devices are easy to monitor – simply run a paired wire between any dry contact closure output and a SiteBoss device. Almost immediately you can integrate backup power, electronic equipment, door contacts, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, or outputs from machinery.
Environmental sensors can be added to monitor conditions such as intrusion, temperature, water, battery conditions and much more. Use a SiteBoss Controller to simplify the task of monitoring diverse equipment and forwarding alarms to your email, and/or network management system.
Beyond monitoring basic types of devices and inputs, remote monitoring demands can also take the form of interrogating co-located network and communication devices using SNMP, SQL, Syslog, or other various networking protocols. While traditional remote monitoring devices are inadequate to meet these new needs, the SiteBoss series features the ability to monitor these protocols via its local network connection and built-in scripting capabilities. Using the advanced features of the SiteBoss, you can receive and evaluate web interfaces, SNMP devices, Syslog records, SQL records and more, to monitor the health and alarm status of these devices. The powerful scripting language of the SiteBoss provides built-in protocols, or you can create your own customized interface to interrogate a variety of other protocols. Do-it- yourself, or use Asentria’s pre-made or custom scripting services to bring all your devices under the control of your monitoring system.
Minimizing or even eliminating truck rolls saves time and money, while keeping users satisfied. The SiteBoss Controllers give you remote device management capability to correct problems by power control and rebooting of transceivers, servers, routers, A/C power, and more. Using the pass-through connectivity, the SiteBoss products allow network managers to remotely send commands to enable or disable power systems or manage devices, change equipment configuration parameters, connect remote users to restricted ports, and much more.
Alarms can be reported via email, SNMP monitor traps, and/or TCP alarms. With flexible messaging capabilities, customized alarms can be received and displayed on your existing SNMP monitoring tools , or by the Asentria AlarmManager™ or SitePath™ management software.
Depending upon the SiteBoss remote monitoring and remote device management product you choose, you can manage up to 26 serial ports. Additionally, expansion cards are available to expand SiteBoss products for relays, contact closures, analog voltage inputs, or other environmental sensors. Options also include a dialup modem, wireless modem or onboard ADSL modem.
Non-volatile memory sizes from 128K to 32MB provide adequate capacity to store the collected event records from your remote site systems. The 100Base-T interface provides TCP/IP access for configuration and remote access operations. Dialup access via an optional 33.6Kbps internal modem provides connectivity in non-networked locations. The SiteBoss Series also supports optional configuration for - 48VDC power input.
Advanced scripting and communications capabilities combined with modular expansion cards make the SiteBoss Series controllers adaptable to a multitude of application uses. For even greater versatility, the SiteBoss Series was designed to incorporate customized firmware modules. We welcome the opportunity to discuss your custom applications.
The SiteBoss Series provides versatile, secure, and easy-to-use access and remote device management management of your remote sites, plus monitoring and notification of text-based, environmental, and equipment-based alarms generated at the remote site. By consolidating diverse alarm types into a single device, and applying business rules through the flexible scripting capability of the SiteBoss, network managers are able to rapidly identify and fix critical issues before they become problems.
