Jim Wemette, Manager of Systems Engineer at Burlington Telecom

Frequently Asked Questions:

Note: These are generic questions, which are common to most Asentria products. For more specific information, or if the information here does not resolve your problem, please contact Tech Support at (206) 344-8800 or by email.

8. How can I find out how much memory my Asentria buffer box has?

Look on the product sticker on the bottom of the unit. Find the string of data that is similar to this: DL150-4M-2P-133-1EF-12V. The field following the product name is the memory size. “ 4M” indicates that this DL150 has 4MB of memory.

Alternatively, connect to the unit and look at the Status screen. You will find a field indicating the memory size.

9. How many call records can my Asentria buffer box hold?

It's not exact, but a 1MB unit will hold approximately 16,000 80-character call records. The longer the record, the less can be stored. Another consideration is how many other files will be using memory. For example, in the DL150, the Audit Log and Event Log can be set to store data in memory, leaving less for call records. 16,000 records per MB is a good guideline to use.

10. How can I get a firmware upgrade for my Asentria product?

From the command-line, type the command VER to get a one line listing of the hardware and firmware configuration of your unit. Then contact Asentria Tech Support with that information along with the serial number. We will determine which upgrade files you need, and make arrangements to either do the upgrade for you, or send you the files and instructions to do the upgrade yourself.

11. Why do I get “ERROR” or “Bad Entry” when I try to access the command-line?

This means that the unit is configured such that passwords are enabled. When passwords are enabled, you must enter a password before entering commands. Consult the User Manual for your product to determine the default password. If the password was changed to one other than the default password, consult the person who is the local administrator of your unit.
